Band and Color Guard Show Off Their Months of Practice

LC’s Marching Band and Color Guard started their season at the first varsity home football game after many months of preparation.

The band and Color Guard have been practicing since June, with thirteen hour practices almost every day in the summer and three hour practices after school.

“I basically didn’t have a summer because I had band”, Benjamin Cash (9) said.

The theme of this year’s show is “Somewhere in Time”, which is based on a 1980 movie of the same name. There have also been changes from last year to this year, including the section where the members sit.

“(The old seating) gave us more space and freedom and we could watch the game easily”, William Pollalis (12) said.

This year the section where the band and guard sit is next to the student fan section, as opposed to the end of the field last year. Another change is the new upperclassmen leaders.

“It’s hard for section leaders because we weren’t used to it”, Maddie Carlson (12) said.

The halftime performance went well for being the first of the season. Fans at the game seemed to enjoy the show.

“It was artistic and flowed well. They worked well together,” Breanna Falcone (12) said.

The Marching Band and Color Guard will perform at halftime of every home football game.
