On Sunday, the LC Boys Bowling team placed first in the Clay Colonial Preseason Tournament in South Bend, while the Girls team placed second by two points.

As defending state runners-up, the Boys came in Sunday with a hopeful outlook.

“We just wanted to start the season off right this year. We are all hoping it turns out just as good as last year. Winning state would be great, but just going back to that atmosphere would be just as good, ” Nathan Maciejewski (11) said.

The final score of their championship match was 424-322, defeating Rochester High School.

After a qualifying round, the top eight Boys and Girls teams faced off in two Baker games, where five bowlers bowl one game together with the top team advancing to the next round. After defeating Huntington North and Highland High Schools, the Girls team advanced to the final match against Clay High School. By a final score of 357-359, the Clay girls defeated LC’s Varsity team.

“We did well today, but there was much room for improvement. We are going to have to work on these problem areas and hopefully improve from here,” team captain Kierstyn Rush (11) said.

Both teams will go up against many of Sunday’s teams in the Post-Tribune Bowl-O-Rama on Sunday, October 23.
