Belzhar lives up to expectations


The novel Belzhar, read for the Book Club, has a suspenseful plotline that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. The book did not disappoint.

Going into the book, I did not know what to expect. I had not heard of the book before, but it surely did not disappoint. This story was one that kept me hooked from the beginning as I kept wondering what was going to happen next.

Jam’s life puts a twist on reality as she recounts her experiences at the infamous boarding school, “The Wooden Barn.”

She is introduced to a supernatural way of reconnecting with her past, where she visits Reeve Maxfield, her late boyfriend.

As time goes on, however, Jam learns to let go of her past and keep moving forward as she finds people and places to fill the void. We gain insight into the stories of those who now surround her as she begins her new life.

The shocking story behind the tragic story of Jam’s life is uncovered, one that had me gasping at what I had just read.
