Individuals seeking to impact the community can find a home at Lake Central’s new club, Habitat for Humanity. The club’s main focus is building homes for those in need.
“We are trying to make the community a better place, so [we are] building houses [and] working at the ReStore, where things are significantly lower priced for lower income families,” Hannah Aulinskis (11) said.
However, Habitat for Humanity’s actions extend beyond the community.
“We’re trying to do a fundraiser for this [organization] called ‘The Shoe That Grows.’ They send shoes to different countries, so kids do not have to buy new shoes every year,” Aulinskis said.
Members of Habitat for Humanity will be more closely tied with the community than other clubs.
“I think that it will help the student body to be involved with things outside of school and in the community, and to help people that are in need,” Mrs. Cynthia Lale, World Language, said.
For anyone interested, meetings are every Monday in Room C210. All students are welcome to join.
