Q: What award did you achieve last week?
A: I got First Team All-Area [offense] in the Northwest Indiana Times.
Q: How does it feel to get this honor?
A: It felt pretty good because this was my first year on varsity [boys football]. Seeing my hard work paying off is such an honor.
Q: Is there anyone in particular that you feel helped you get to this goal?
A: I would say Coach [Brett] St. [Germain] because he is the one who gave me the opportunity to play.
Q: Why do you think you were so successful this season?
A:This season I just did was I was asked to do, and it all clicked.
Q: Do you think you should have been given First-Team Offense for the state?
A: Honestly, I don’t know. It was a close race between me and the other receivers.
Q: Are there any future benefits from winning this?
A: Colleges will look at it to see what I have accomplished during high school. It helps for them to see you are one of the best in the area.
Q: Who was your favorite team to play against?
A: Valparaiso [is my favorite team to play against]. It was a big game and it was awesome to play them. Coach Germain’s son goes there, so there was definitely a little extra motivation.
Q: What was your favorite memory from this season?
A: I would say my catch against Valparaiso. The first kid pressed me and [Ethan] Darter [(12)] threw it over the top. I jumped up, and the safety came up with the linebacker and I caught it between them for a touchdown.
Q: What are some goals for next season, seeing how much you have already achieved?
A: Next season I plan on getting All-State and winning some more games [with my teammates].
Q: How is playing with a new quarterback going to affect you?
A: It won’t be much different because I’ve played with the potential quarterbacks on JV [in previous games].
