On Wednesday, March 23 the Lake Central Indians varsity boys baseball team faced off against the Hobart Brickies in a scrimmage to hit off the season.
“Overall, I think the scrimmage went well. As a team we need to work on our offense and maybe clean up our defense just a little bit too, but more so our offense,” Bradley Loden (11) said.
The boys played strong defense throughout the game, strategically placing their players in specific areas of the field in order to prevent the other team from getting hits, stealing and scoring runs. Many of the players changed positions from inning to inning, alternating players to allow each member of the team to show their range of skills in various positions.
“It was a successful first game together. We got to see how everyone worked with each other and how everyone responded in a game situation,” Loden said.
While the scrimmage was a success in the player’s eyes, the boys hope that this experience will help them with many more successes that will count this season.
“Going forward into this season we are looking forward to playing together as a team and improving together, not just individually. With that we hope to produce wins,” Loden said.
The boys will play next at Bishop Noll on Tuesday, March 29 at 4:30 p.m.
