JV Cheerleading

This past weekend, both the JV and Varsity Girls Cheerleaders traveled to Illinois to compete against many different high schools from across the state of Illinois. This was the first out-of-state competition the Girls competed in this year. Going out of state means seeing a number of teams you have not seen before, which for both teams means not knowing what their competition was going to be like.

“I felt kind of nervous because I didn’t know what we were going up against,” Alyssa Alfano (9) said.

The JV Girls ended up winning in their division despite a few mistakes. Their hard work and dedication shows when they compete. All the long hours of practice pays off for the squad.

“[I feel like it has paid off] because we got first, and we went up against other teams that we really didn’t know,” Hannah Pittman (10) said.

Next weekend the team will travel to another competition in Illinois where they will face 18 teams from all over the state. Last week the Girls made their debut in the state of Illinois, and now it is up to them to uphold their reputation.

“We’ve got to keep the title in Illinois and represent for Indiana,” Pittman said.
