On Monday, Aug. 22, the varsity boys soccer team took on the Highland Trojans and won with a final score of 2-1. This extended their winning streak to four games.
“Good teams learn to win on bad days, and although it may not have been our best performance, it was on the heels of a very tough Saturday. I thought the team did real well,” Head Coach Jereme Rainwater, Vocational, said.
Twenty-two minutes into the first half, Highland scored the first goal. Shortly after, Michael Bikos (11) scored his sixth goal of the season to tie the game. After another first half goal, the Indians had a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
“It’s quite an accomplishment [to have scored this much]. I’ve never had this much confidence in a soccer season so it’s just a great feeling to be the top goal scorer. [The team and coaches have] both impacted me severely and they gave me confidence. They told me I could strive to do my best,” Michael Bikos (11) said.
The team is now preparing for their next game on Wednesday Aug. 24 against Michigan City.
