Many students become stressed and worried about their quickly approaching future. Many also feel the pressure about how they can possibly pay to go to college.

“It is a great networking tool, and we do a lot of school and community events, so [students] get to meet local community members, business owners and students that you wouldn’t normally see during the day or have class with. We are the biggest club in the school, so it’s a great way to meet other people, especially for freshman.  Students can join Dollars for Scholars all year round, and once they get to their senior year, they become eligible for scholarships,” Mrs.Cline, Guidance, said.

Dollars for Scholars is all about giving back to the community and helping out at Lake Central.  The program is great for people who are in National Honor Society or who want to volunteer and get service hours.

“My sister was apart of Dollars for Scholars when she was at Lake Central, and she recommended this club because it really helped her. She said she loved all the activities they do, and that really interested me to get involved [with Dollars for Scholars],” – Adilene Lopez (9) said.

One of the events that Dollars for Scholars is participating in is the Eric Estill 5k walk/run that takes place on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Lake Central.

“I just love giving back and helping. This club always interested me and a few people recommend this to me,” Jade Mehok (9) said

If you would like to join Dollars for Scholars, you can join anytime, just drop in on a meeting. If students have any questions you can contact Mrs. Cline in the guidance office.
