N-Teens held their second meeting of the year on Sept. 27 and discussed a variety of upcoming events.
“Today we discussed different fall volunteer opportunities, which include the pumpkin plunge and homecoming,” Taylor Gibson (11) said.
N-Teens is not only involved with homecoming, but they are also in charge of winter formal.
“I am very much looking forward to winter formal because it is really fun decorating and being able to work it. I have helped out for the last two years, and [last year] I actually went to the dance, so I got to experience the atmosphere,” Gibson said.
Many students take part in this club for different reasons. Whether they like helping others or being involved in an extracurricular activity, this club has brought many people together.
“I like how everyone helps out here at Lake Central. Personally, I like helping out with the community and volunteering,” Charmagne Abangan (9) said.
Students can also gain new skills and knowledge from this club. These skills can be used both in and out of school.
“I’ve learned valuable time management skills and responsibility, which is necessary when you sign up for something and you have to do your job,” Gibson said.
This year, there will be a few new changes to N-Teens. Compared to past years, the way the club is run will be different.
“We are trying to make the club more student-run,” Ms. Gabrielle Rapin, Science, said.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
