The JV girls soccer team played against Concord at home on Saturday, Sept. 16. The girls defeated Concord with a score of 2-0.
“We played really good. We learned to connect. We could’ve gotten a couple more [goals] in, but we’re still developing as a team and learning everyone’s strengths and weaknesses,” Samantha Quinlan (10) said.
The Indians were in the lead at halftime with 1-0. Haley Brown (11) scored a goal in the first half of the game.
“[Scoring in the first half] made me more excited about the game,” Brown said.
This season the team is working on improving their confidence while having the ball. The girls have improved from last season by paying more attention to everyone’s strengths and weaknesses.
“We’re doing drills, like 50-50s, to make everyone more confident in what we’re doing, so going against the defender, one on one, and being able to control the ball and not freak out,” Quinlan said.
Each of the girls have their own goals for this season as well.
“I hope I get my footwork better and try not to get beat as much. When I do get beat, [I hope to] get back and return to the middle,” Hailey Prasopoulos (9) said.
The next game will be on Tuesday, Sept. 19 against Valparaiso High School.
