LC Boys Track and Field competed against Valparaiso and Merrillville on Tuesday at a home meet.
Anthony Gayton (11) believes the competition was a fair match.
The track team won against Merrillville but lost against Valparaiso. With one more meet to go, the team runs down to its final weeks of the Boys Track season for the year.“I think we faired pretty well. Merrillville and Valparaiso are tough competition. No doubt it brought the best and most competitive spirit out of a lot of us,” Gayton said.
“The team has come a long way since our first meet and is only looking stronger as we roll over into the final weeks of the season. Different guys have stepped up in areas they didn’t realize they even could,” Gayton said.
Like every sport, the sad part of an ending season is losing the beloved seniors, leaving the juniors to take their place.
“Losing some key seniors will be tough, but it will only give some other guys opportunities, and who knows what could happen when given an opportunity? The goal is to get better, and I feel like we will be better,” Gayton said.
