The Boys Track team took home the win at Sectionals last Thursday with Crown Point as the host.
The team even beat their own expectations.
“Sectionals went extremely well; pretty much everyone did better than they were supposed to. We went into it with confidence knowing we were the ones with the targets on our backs, [and] this year we were moved into a new, more difficult sectional,” Randall Trembacki (12) said.
The team is now focusing on Regionals and practicing hard to be the best.
“The team is working very hard. Being DAC and Sectionals champs, we know we are the ‘big dogs’ walking into the meet, and we’ve left some teams with a sour taste in their mouth. They want to get revenge on us, especially the hosting team of Valparaiso who we beat by one point at DAC,” Trembacki said.
Even with the pressures of winning Regionals, the track team still felt successful from their first place win in Sectionals.
“Winning felt great. When the predicted places came out, we were expected to get third, so it was nice to know everyone performed exceptionally and bumped us up to the top,” Trembacki said.
