Saturday, May 19, LC hosted its annual invite at Palmira Golf Course. The boys had tough competition, including conference rival Munster High School, but the real struggle was not with any opponents- it was with the scorching 90-degree heat.
“The heat was terrible. I had a beach towel soaked with water that I was putting on my head in-between every hole,” Jonathan Gross (11) said.
The team came in third place with a score of 317. For some of the boys, those numbers are not up to par.
“I shot a 75. We had two really good scores, but the rest were not that great. I am not sure we all played to our full potential,” Thomas Cameron (12) said.
This was the last tournament of the season, and despite the blistering weather, the invite was a chance for all of the boys to get a feel for their post-season competition.
“Some of the teams we played will be some of the teams we will see at Sectionals and Regionals, so we kind of saw where we stand. We beat Munster, and they are our biggest competition, so we will be pretty good in Sectionals,” Michael Barenie (12) said.
