On Tuesday evening, November 13th, the girls freshman basketball team fought a difficult game against Portage. When being down in the first period 6-14, the girls never gave up. They pushed through and worked hard which resulted in a win of 41-28.

“They [LC freshmen girls basketball players] played very hard, especially the last three quarters where they played with mental toughness,” Coach McNamara said.

Most of the team believes the first period was a little rough. Each player has something they reflected on. Most of the players are also strong believers that there is always room for improvement.

“I believe I could improve on ball movement and moving faster,” Sharon Austin (9) said.

Even though the team agreed on making improvements, they also thought they did very well during the game.

“I thought we played great defense especially in the half court,” Coach McNamara said.

Even though some of the girls were injured, they still showed high confidence throughout the game to pump up their teammates.

“I played a little bit in the first quarter and a little bit in the fifth quarter. I did pretty well for being injured. I helped my team out on the bench and helped keep their spirits up,” Austin said.

Most of the team believed they did a great job together and hope to keep making improvements and win games.

“Portage is a good team and we played very well. It’s important to get conference wins,” Coach McNamara said.
