The Lake Central Girls volleyball team played an intense round of sets against Munster High School on the 15th of September, but in the end they prevailed.
“I think our game versus Munster was a really competitive one. It was really close in the third set but overall we played really well and it’s always nice to have a win on our back,” Brooklyn Barth (12) said.
The relative beginning of the school year gives the team a clean slate. They can come back with the most positive mindset, ready to take on any challenges sent their way.
“The season has been going pretty well, our biggest rivals are Chesterton and Crown Point and we lost to them in the first round of conference. We are starting our second round now and despite them being pretty hard teams, I believe that we got it this time,” Barth said.
Athletes must have chemistry off the court in order to perform to the best of their abilities. The girls strive to use the little moments they have to bond and contribute better teamwork on the court.
“Our team is already a good group of girls that all like each other, so we don’t do as much team bonding outside of practicing for games. But even the practices, the games and the bus rides make our bonds so much stronger. We all can talk to each other about everything and we’re able to joke around in the locker room. We have a little Instagram page together where we post pictures of ourselves,” Arielle Carter-Reed (11) said.
