The Varsity Girls Soccer team overpowered the Highland Trojans 1-0 after a scoreless first half.
The girls were determined to score in the second half after several goal attempts in the first half. Lauren Doreski (12) scored with 28 minutes remaining in the game, putting their record at 4-2.
“I think we did some things well, but [there is] room for improvement,” Coach Julie Mooer, said.
The team hopes to do better in the next game.Their next game is Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. at Portage High School.
“It really lifted our team up, Highland is a big rival school for us,” Doreski said.
The girls were happy with their win against such a difficult team. The fans screaming and yelling at referees for the calls they made, but the girls kept fighting on.
“I think the team did really well today. We had a lot of good plays up top. We communicated and connected passes. The other team tried to get in our heads, but we rose above it,” Shannon Freedom (12) said.
