Varsity wrestling outplays Laporte

Justyce Reed, Echo Editor-in-Chief

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Varsity wrestling team played a home meet against the Laporte Slicers in the gymnasium. The team won the meet with a score of 42-35. Even though they won, they had difficulties throughout the meet that they had to overcome.

“When it came to what we should’ve done differently, I think we shouldn’t have given up as many pins as we did,” Joshua Daniels (11) said.

Throughout the match, the boys (and girl) kept their spirits high as they rooted for the people on the mat. Their strong teamwork was a key element for their success. The team knows what they have to work on and what they need to improve for their next match.

“I think we can improve on our offense and shoot more shots and try to put up higher scoring matches,” Daniels said.

Be sure to come support them at their next home meet on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 6:30 against Portage.
