Varsity football charged on the field at Portage Friday night hoping for another big win.

“I thought the team played well considering the fact that we lost two starters from the team this week who got in trouble last week, so I think over all the kids played very well and it was nice to get a win,” Coach Brett St. Germain said.

The game was off to a slow start until David Yancey (12) ran 41 yards to score the first LC touchdown of the night.

“I had to step in as quarterback, which is what I played last year, so it was pretty different from this year, but it was pretty simple. I’ve been working on it all summer, but we just came in and executed, ” Yancey said.

Yancey continued to be a powerhouse throughout the night, scoring three more touchdowns by the end of the game. Yancey was not the only star of the night, however. Riley Arvanitis (12) took the field by storm.

“I think I did really well Friday considering it was my first time playing both ways, and I did not really play defense up until that week of practice, so I think I did really well on defense and offense, too. I ran the ball a lot, I got 140 yards or something like that, so I think I did well on Friday,” said Arvanitis.

The Indians have been dominating the field, their record is now 3-0. Showing their dedication with their long, intense practices every day after school, the boys are fighting to keep their region title.
