The Lake Central Girls Soccer team didn’t waste any time scoring against LaPorte on Saturday morning.
Lauren Doreski (12) came out strong and scored with a header in the 58th second off a cross from Kaileigh Kramer-Stephens (11). Doreski would score two more headers with assists from Tarah Hamby (10) and Alisha Donovan (10).
Coach Julie Moore wanted to use this game to prepare for their next match against Chesterton.
“I wanted the team to work on keeping possession and focus on an aggressive style,” Moore said.
Brianna Dougherty (10) would score two more goals in the second half off of passes from Sarah Triveline (10) and Donovan.
The girls’ defense, led by sweeper Michelle Wartman (12), also aided in the success of the game.
“I made sure everyone was marked up on a player and I tried to keep everyone positive,” Wartman said.
The girls varsity team has their last home game on Sept. 11 against Chesterton High School.
