Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” is sure to make you wish you were driving around the suburbs with the volume up all the way. Rodrigo’s debut song “drivers license” was released Jan. 8, 2021, and as of Jan. 14, 2021, has over 50 million streams on Spotify.

Fans have speculated the song is about Rodrigo’s relationship with “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” co-star Joshua Bassett. Bassett and Rodrigo were rumored to have been dating early last year. However, Bassett was publicly seen with Disney Channel star Sabrina Carpenter multiple times this summer.

Rodrigo’s music seems like a perfect mix between emotional lyrics and a great production resemblant of Taylor Swift and Lorde’s discography. Not only has the song been trending on TikTok, it broke Ariana Grande’s record for most U.S. streams in a day.

Olivia seems to be a rising pop star and even received support from Taylor Swift, who left a comment on one of Rodrigo’s recent posts, “and I say that’s my baby and I’m proud,” a quote that Swift’s mom said about her in an interview.

I think it’s safe to say Rodrigo’s career in the music industry is just beginning to take off, and personally, I couldn’t be more excited to see what kind of music Rodrigo has in store.
