The girls track team took on Morton, Munster, and Rensselaer this year’s first outdoor meet on Thursday, April 8.

“I prefer outdoor meets because times are usually faster than indoors. I also like outdoor meets better because the surface of the track itself is better to run on than the indoor track,” Missy Fritz (12) said.

This was the first outdoor meet of the season, with many girls having successful races and some even setting personal records.

“I ran the mile and the 2 mile race and I got a PR in both events.  My individual goals for this season are to get 5:30 in the mile and sub 12:00 for the 2 mile,” Nikki Vollrath (9) said.

This was the first scored meet this season.  The girls took first place as a team.

“The team is doing really good this season, we recently just won our first conference meet.  I think overall the season is going to be really good. We have some really good talent this year and I think we can accomplish so much,” Carly Davis (11) said.

As the team continues to compete in conference meets, there are some goals they have to stay focused on.

“Our team goals would most likely be to stay undefeated in our conference and win DAC, sectionals, and regionals and send a good amount of girls to the state meet!”, Fritz said.
