On Oct. 4, varsity girls soccer defeated Gavit at Highland High School during the IHSAA Sectional Game.
As the game started, rain began to pour down onto the field.
“I think [the rain] affected us in the beginning, but in the second half we got used to it,” Serena Stincic-Perez (11) said.
The first goal was scored by Lauren Doreski (12). The girls stayed in the lead, scoring point after point in the first period of the game.
The first period ended with a score of 8-0 LC.
During the second half of the game, the girls continued to work hard and ended the game, victorious with a score of 10-0.
“I think [the game] was a good opportunity to be creative with the ball,” Jennifer Niemzyk (12) said.
The varsity girls soccer team will continue on to the IHSAA Sectional Championship against Griffith on Oct. 6.
