A Different Type of Marvel Movie

The movie “Eternals” came out on Nov. 5, 2021. The movie had a different feel of the normal Marvel Universe. Usually, all the Marvel characters such as Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, etc. have movies of their own to start off their journey of becoming a superhero and then gradually evolve into the group movies. With “Eternals” its just a group of superheroes trying to help develop Earth. Usually, superheroes have unique personalities and powers, but what I noticed was one character had very similar powers too a DC superhero. Ikaris (Richard Madden) has the powers of shooting lasers from his eyes and flying. Now if you are familiar with DC Comics you know that Superman has those exact same powers along with super strength.

With different love interests throughout the film, you get a pretty interesting love triangle happening containing Sprite (Lia McHugh), Sersi (Gemma Chan) and Ikaris. Sersi and Ikaris ended up getting married but then splitting due to Ikaris going off on his own and ignoring Sersi. Towards the end of the movie Sprite then confesses her love for Ikaris saying that the only reason they couldn’t be together was because Sersi and her teenage body got in the way. Gilgamesh (Don Lee) and Thena (Angelina Jolie) were also love interests. Thena ended up developing Mhd Wy’ry, a form of dementia in the movie, and gilgamesh helped Thena remember that she doesn’t need to kill the others and calms her down whenever it flares up. Finally, Druig (Barry Keoghan) and Makkari (Laren Ridloff) date throughout the movie and stick together.

At the end of the movie we get an end credit scene. Usually, at the end of every Marvel movie we get a momentary end credit scene. Sometimes they will add two but usually its only one. “Eternals” has two, one containing Harry Styles (Starfox) and the other containing, Kit Harington (Black Knight).  The first one Styles comes on screen explaining that he wants to help the Eternals and that he is the brother of Thanos. Harington opens a box containing a katana that is whispering to him.
