Lake Central members of students council met on Wednesday, Oct. 10, to discuss upcoming events and volunteer options.
Students were encouraged to volunteer at the Northwest Indiana Food Bank and sign up to help with the Holiday Teacher Appreciation Day and a chili cook-off fundraiser.
“I think it’s good to be involved with volunteering. It’s a nice thing to do and great for college applications as well,” Ashley Fitch (11) said.
Some students suggested that Student Council sell cookies instead of chili as a fundraiser. Although the idea was appealing, the Student Council advisor, Mrs. Myra Lolkema, English, decided that chili would be the best option.
“I’ve seen chili cook-off fundraisers work at other schools,” Mrs. Myra Lolkema, English, said.
Student Council will meet again on Wednesday, Oct. 24, after school to make T-shirts for the club.
