A Swim for the Seniors

Krista Kulacz, Print Team Leader

On Tuesday Jan. 18, 2022, the Lake Central boys and girls swim teams had a meet against Crown Point High School.  Tuesday was a special night for seniors, who got to celebrate their senior night before the start of the meet.

“It was a bittersweet moment, knowing that senior night signifies one of our last dual meets with my team.  Overall, we came together as a team and had some impressive swims.  I am looking forward to finishing off the season with them, hopefully going out with a bang at Sectionals and State,” Leo Bowman (12) said.

Both the boys and girls teams dominated in the pool with wins against Crown Point.  Senior Kayla Garza (12) talks about her season so far and what she looks forward to.

“We only have Sectionals left and the season has been really enjoyable this year.  The meet was good for me, it’s the highest I’ve scored at a meet so far. I am very excited for Sectionals,” Garza said.

Eric Tinsley (12) won the boys 200 individual medley.  Tinsley also got the chance to be a part of a senior relay with his teammates he raced with his freshman year.

“In the 200 free relay, he had the four seniors swim it because we asked him to because we wanted to recreate when we broke the freshman relay record. It was a fun little relay because it was nostalgic,” Tinsley said.
