The school’s club for college bound students, Dollars for Scholars, met on Wednesday, Oct. 10 with a bursting amount of ideas for future projects.
“We’re getting more in touch with the 21st century,” Mrs. Sarah Cancialosi, sponsor of the club, said. The returning members of the club are using texting and Facebook pages to connect to students this year to encourage new members to get involved.
The members participate in volunteering and other events to help in the community in hopes of gaining a scholarship upon graduation. The mission of the club is “to get kids involved in taking control of their future,” Cancialosi said.
“We have a spaghetti dinner coming up,” Nicholas Brandner (10) said. The spaghetti dinner will be held for charity this December, as well as the formation of a new program where kids in the club pair up with a special needs child and teach them ways to be physically active.
The club’s next meeting will be held on Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the South cafeteria.
