Battle to the End

The Varsity boys basketball team battled against Hammond High School on Feb. 15. After a close game, they eventually lost 40-43.

“I think ball movement could have been better. knocking down some open shots would have helped us out a lot. Obviously, we couldn’t do that,” Jaiden Clayton (12) said.

Despite the fact that improvements could’ve been made, the team still managed to hold their own. The lead went back and forth between both teams throughout the game. The defense kept Hammond from pulling far ahead.

“Usually, they are in their 70’s and the score was 50 points. I think our defense was probably our best part,” Clayton said.

The team leads with hopes that their performances are getting better and will continue to strengthen in time for sectionals. Sectionals will be played at Lake Central on March 5 against East Chicago.

“I definitely think we didn’t play our best, which makes me confident that when we play better we have a good shot at winning Sectionals. We have been playing a lot better as of late and we will prepare through watching tons of film and repping our sets,” Mitch Milausnic (11) said.
