The varsity girls basketball team dominated on their home court, defeating Griffith in the first game of the season.
The Lady Indians came out strong against the Panthers, with a score of 30-9 at the half. The usual nervousness that comes with the first game of the season did not affect the girls or their new head coach, Marc Urban.
“We were pumped up. It was a brand new season and we had new coaches. We focused on the little things like boxing out and jumping to the ball,” Lindsay Kusbel (10) said.
The varsity girls continued to put points on the board in the last half of the game, with Tara Zlotkowski (10) leading the Indians with the most points.
“My strongest point is shooting, so I was confident during the game. All of us tried to work as a team,” Zlotkowski said.
The girls’ next game is Friday, Nov. 16, when they will travel to Michigan City.
