On Friday, Nov. 9, the marching band left school for Indianapolis to compete in the Bands of America Grand National Championship competition.
Friday night, the band participated in the preliminary round of the competition. The band’s score qualified them to go to the semi-finals that took place on Saturday, Nov. 10.
“I though it was [the band’s] two best performances of the year,” Mr. Chris Harmon, fine arts, said.
The band’s semi-final score was two tenths of a point away from qualifying them for finals.
“We did the best that we could do with our show, and I’m happy with how we placed,” Stephanie Pomplin (11) said.
Although the band did not make it to the finals of the competition, they were ranked 14th in the nation.
“To be ranked that high, we certainly take that as a big compliment,” Harmon said.
