On Monday, April 2, both JV and varsity boys volleyball played against Michigan City. JV won both sets with scores of 25-9 and 25-23. Then, varsity took three sets with scores of 27-25, 25-15 and 25-8.
“My favorite position is middle blocker because it’s the main weapon of a team’s offense and it acts as a decoy for the other hitters to have easier hits. Also, you get crazy blocks,” Erdenebayar Amarsaikhan (10) said. “Next year, I want to be able to have more awareness on the court and better accuracy and controlled sets. My goals are a higher vertical and a stronger body and to be on varsity next year.”
The boys volleyball program started last year, and many of the athletes have different reasons for why they started playing.
“I started playing organized volleyball freshman year, but I’ve been playing with my uncle since I was five. I decided to join the boys team because my uncle played at the college level, and it really made me want to play,” Dylan Scanlon (10) said.
