On August 7, incoming freshmen flood through the doors of the high school at 10 a.m. to get an introduction to their new school for the next four years. The group sat in anticipation and listened as numerous administrators discussed the upcoming year in the auditorium.
“I am very excited and nervous. I’m mostly excited to meet new people during the school year and today. I’m very nervous for big tests, and I also might get lost in the school,” Roxann Martinez (9) said.
After the introduction, students were either sent to a lunch period, main street where all of the club tables were and tours throughout the school led by MAP (Mentorship Ambassador Program).
“I’m pretty nervous. It’s just a big school and it’s new. I am excited this year to try out for softball. Yet, I am most nervous about biology because I am bad at science,” Aubrey Richardson (9) said.
Students have many classes to locate and find before the school year begins which is what Open Building Day is for which is August 8.
“I’m excited for today, and I know we’re going to get lost. I am also excited this year to play soccer because I made the team. I know today I saw Mrs. Schueyler’s room, and I walked past it. Overall, I am most excited for Pte because my best friend is in the class, but most nervous for pool because it is at the beginning of the day,” Parker Reddick (9) said.
