On Sept. 12, the girls varsity volleyball team played the Merrillville Pirates. They swept the court with a crushing win of 3-0.
“I think we played pretty well. At first, it was kind of a rough start and it was kind of bumpy, but I think we pulled it together and finished in a good way,” Lily Barth (11) said.
Many of the players believe they played strong that night, but add that there is still room to be even better.
“I think we picked up the ball pretty well. I think our blocking could have been stronger, and with communication, we could always be louder as a team. I think overall we did good, but definitely we could pick up on some stuff,” Isabella Denson (11) said.
Even when the girls are playing less competitive teams, they acknowledge that they still have to keep the skills they’ve been working on aggressive and up to their coach’s standards.
“I feel like when we are playing teams that aren’t as competitive, we need to stay consistent and not stoop down to their level,” Lauren Smith (12) said.
