With the season starting off rocky, the boys swim team was determined to beat Highland at the dual meet at home on Thursday, Dec. 13. Although Highland may not have much depth to their team, the boys battled it out with their top swimmers.
Jamiere Wilson (10) had a successful meet, scoring crucial points in the 100 yard butterfly for the team, leading them to the win.
βI dove in the water and looked around while I was swimming and no one was really next to me so I was pretty sure I was going to win,β Wilson said.
Teammate Matt Applegate (10) rocked the water as well, proving he is among the top swimmers on the team.
βIn the [individual medley] I went my fastest time this season, so I was happy with that,β Applegate said.
Wilson and Applegate both stepped up on the team this year and hope to advance to top spots in their events at Sectionals in February.
