Donning Christmas sweaters and Santa hats, members of the Lake Central Theater Company met at the Schererville Strack & Van Til’s on Friday evening to spread some holiday cheer and raise money for their troupe with Christmas caroling.
“I went last year, and I wanted to go again this year. It’s a unique way to raise awareness for [the company],” Brandilyn Stockton-Fresso (10) said.
The members sang a variety of holiday songs, from “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” to “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and even “Feliz Navidad.”
“Not as many people went [as last year], but we ended up getting a lot more money,” Kaitlyn Badger (11) said.
Members collected a total of $132 to go towards paying off expenses within the troupe. However, just because there was a payoff in the end doesn’t mean that it came as a chore. The evening also helped to bring those who participated closer together.
“[Caroling] is a really good bonding experience. It’s a really fun way to get everyone together and in the Christmas spirit,” Badger said.
