At the District One Conference last Saturday, 40 BPA students qualified to advance to the state conference in March. For now, it’s preparation, payments and packing for the members of Business Professionals of America.
On March 10, 11 and 12th, BPA members will travel to Indianapolis to compete in their events that range anywhere from Broadcast News to Presentation Management to Keyboarding.
Before the competition, qualifiers have the opportunity to read over their graded tests from the district competition and work on their events accordingly.
“I definitely need to touch up on my event, which is Presentation Management, because I got a rubric from a judge saying what I need to improve in. With keyboarding, I have been doing it for three years now, so I feel confident in that event,” Theresa Lai (11) said.
The competition takes place at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott. This event is not only highly professional, with only business casual clothes permitted, but it is also fun and something that students look forward to year after year.
“I am excited to go to state to meet new people, because last year I met a lot of cool people that I am going to see again and I’m excited to see what this year holds,” Kathryn Pino (12) said.
The trip to Indianapolis will be chaperoned by BPA sponsor Rita Chavez.
