Between the JV and varsity basketball games on Feb. 22, the senior varsity gymnasts and their parents were recognized at mid-court.

“[Senior night] was bittersweet after so many years. As juniors, you support your graduating seniors. You put so much work in it for other girls and it’s nice when it finally comes back to you,” Brittany Vanek (12) said.

Each senior has been doing gymnastics their entire life, but their high school career is coming to a close at a fast pace.

“I’ll miss having a close relationship with the girls and also the satisfaction of learning new skills,” Vanek said.

Although each of the girls has a passion for gymnastics, none of them will pursue it in college.

“We’ll miss gymnastics all in all,” Vanek said.

The girls have a full week of practice this week to clean up their routines to make sure they perform their best at Sectionals. Sectionals will be held at Chesterton High School on Saturday, March 2 at noon.
