On Thursday April 11, the Concert Band and Jazz II gave a Spring concert in the auditorium.Band director, Mr. Chris Harmon explained to the audience that since part of the construction of our new school includes the auditorium, this was the last time that a spring band concert was to be held in the current auditorium.
The concert kicked off with the Concert Band, who performed three selections by three different composers. The band performed “Reverberations” by Brian Balmages, “Regenesis” by John Higgins and “Urban Dances” by Erik Morales.
“My favorite song was “Regenesis” because the mallet parts were fun to play, and it’s upbeat,” Elizabeth Toren (11) said.
After the intermission, Jazz II set up on the floor in front of the stage for their four song performance. They played “Hot Sauce”, “Cut to the Chase”, “Straight North” and “The Attitude Adjustment”.
“My favorite song was “Cut to the Chase” because it has a fun rhythm and an awesome solo section,” Cole Mulcahy (11) said.
The band’s next event is their spring banquet on May 6, where they will celebrate the successful year of music they have shared.
