On May 7, the boys track and field team took a bus to have their last practice before their DAC meet at Valparaiso High School. Everyone practiced their specific event in hopes of perfecting it for the final meet of the season.

“We tried to keep the practice easy so we wouldn’t be tired for the meet,” Jeremy Prisby (12) said.

The practice started with warm-ups such as hamstring and calf stretches and various speed drills.

“Stretching really helps get our muscles ready; it’s really important because you don’t wanna pull something and you won’t be able to run as fast,” Brandon Scott (10) said.

Head Coach Rudy Skorupa gave advice to everyone participating in the meet.

“Our coach said to just stay relaxed and even if we stumble, we should just give it all we have,” Prisby says.

According to members on the track team, confidence is the key to doing good in any race.

“Whenever I run I am never really nervous I just have a lot of confidence,” Scott said.

LC placed third overall at the DAC meeting and will continue with Sectionals on May 15, 2013.
