On May 16, the girls varsity tennis team played Crown Point in Sectionals after winning their first-round match to Hanover. The girls ended up losing 2-3 in a tough fight.
“I was determined to get revenge because they beat us last time,” Vanessa Olson(12) said.
Both of the double teams for Lake Central won, consisting of partners Vanessa Olson (12) and Marlo Owczarzak (12), and partners Emma Rogers (12) and Nicole Stanek (12).
“As a pair, Vanessa and I played six games together [in the season]; we won five of the six games. The one we lost was to Crown Point, so Vanessa and I walked on the court and said, ‘We are winning this match,’ and we did,” Owczarzak said.
Number one doubles was able to advance to Regionals, which will take place May 21 at Highland High School.
