In their third game of the season, the varsity boys soccer team faced South Bend at home on August 24.

“We are trying out a lot of formations [and] a lot of different things shape-wise,” Coach Jereme Rainwater, Vocational, said.

In the end, the boys lost to their opponents with a final score of 3-0.

“We started off slow, and then as the game went on we progressed a lot, but we just need to get a quicker start next time,” Mikey McClelland (9) said.

The game may not have been what the team had hoped it would be, but it gave them all that much more of a reason to work harder for next time.

“I think Vince Lombardi said it best: winning is a habit, but unfortunately so is losing, so you don’t want to get that losing cycle with such a young team,” Coach Rainwater said.

The boys’ next game is at Highland on Sept. 4.
