On Wednesday, Sept. 18, Lake Central’s Christian youth group, Word of Life, kicked off the first meeting. The meeting took place in club sponsor Dr.Dustin Verpooten’s room A116.

“Word of Life is a club where all people feel like they belong and can make a friend no matter what,” Dr. Verpooten, the club’s sponsor, said.

The group outreach programs planned for this year for this year where they reach out to the community. These events are outside of school and are a way of giving back to the community. At the last meeting, members participated in an ice-breaker activity, an open discussion about a Bible passage, and a final prayer.

“This is my third year in Word of Life, and It’s just a friendly environment. There are a lot of cool people who have the same interests, and we have food, so it’s a lot of fun,” Mia Gjeldum (12) said.

The club is open to all students and is always welcoming students to become to new members. The next Word of Life meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 2:30 p.m. in room A116.
