JV volleyball takes a win for the seniors

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, JV volleyball kicked off Senior Night with a win against Merrillville. Because the girls had already played the Pirates once, they knew what to anticipate. The final scores were 25-10 and 25-12.

“Most of the girls serve zones, so we tried to serve to their weaker players. We did really well. Merrillville is a very scrappy team, and we were able to pick up a lot of stuff they sent over,” Jenn Fandl, JV Coach, said.

So far, the team has a near-perfect record, with one loss against Valpo. As the end of the season is fast approaching, the girls are preparing for their last two Duneland Athletic Conference matches.

“Our goal is to block better during our next couple of matches. If we win our next two conference matches, then we’ll be first in conference,” Fandl said.

For the seniors, this will be their last chance to finish as Conference Champions, but they have already left their footprints on the heart of the volleyball program.

“They are like the glue of this program. They really welcome everyone into our family and hold it together. We’ll miss them a lot, and wish them the best of luck,” MacKenzie Evers (10) said.
