Varsity volleyball hosts Senior Night

The girls varsity volleyball team won their home games 25-10, 25-10 and 25-8 against Merrillville on Oct. 8. Fortunately enough, it was also the girls’ Senior Night.

“It was nice being honored at Senior Night. I’ve been waiting for four years for this night, but it was also sad because I knew it was my last season,” Megan Malatestinic (12) said.

This night was set up to recognize the senior girls and their achievements over their years in the Lake Central Volleyball program. The head coach and players on the team made speeches to commemorate achievements made by the girls in their last volleyball season at LC.

“I’m going to miss the seniors a lot. I am going to miss how they carried us throughout the season and how they were such a great inspiration to our team,” Alyssa Stepney (11) said.

Some of the girls started playing while they were in middle school, and have put many years into the team.

“I started in middle school. I really liked the intensity of the game and how all of the girls came together on the court,” Katherine Stepanian (12) said.

The next girls volleyball game is Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Valparaiso High School.
