On Thursday, Oct. 10, the girls varsity soccer team played their first game of Sectionals against Griffith at Highland. After falling behind by one goal, the girls pulled together and came out on top with a score of 3-1.

“We started off a little bit panicked because it was the first Sectional game, but by the second half we all gelled together, cooled down and played our game,” Brianna Dougherty (11) said.

The girls did everything they could, both defensively and offensively, to come out of the game with the best score that they could.

“We worked together way more and fixed everything we needed to, so hopefully we will be able to hold our own and come out on top,” Dougherty said.

Coach Julie Moore expects big things out of the girls and is looking forward to seeing how far the girls can get themselves with all of the hard work that they have put in.

“I think we got the jitters out, so I expect better things next game. [I expect the girls to be going] as far as their desire will take them,” Moore said.
