Football ends regular season with victory
October 21, 2013
Ending off the regular season on Friday, Oct. 18, the football team came out on top during a game against Valparaiso Vikings with a score of 21-15.
“I think the seniors played a little differently knowing it was the last regular season game they will ever play in. I know that I wanted to do really good and just have fun because after this year, football is over,” Jake Turngren (12) said.
Turngren helped the Indians gain the lead of the game with a 63-yard pass from Ethan Darter (10) in the second half which they kept for the rest of the game.
Brandon Scott (11) solidified the lead with a 32-yard run for a touchdown in the 4th quarter.
“Our goals as a team are always to go in and win, but this game was really important to us because, for some of our teammates, this was their last regular season game,” Scott said.
Scott contributed with two touchdowns for the night. With this win, the Indians ended their regular season record at 7-2.
“I think overall, all of the team performed well on Friday. There were still mistakes that were made, but in the end we still won; and, for myself, I just did what I had to do to win,” Scott said.
The Indians will start Sectional play on Friday, Oct. 25 against Crown Point at home starting at 7 p.m.
