“It was a dark and stormy night….” that’s how most scary stories start out, right? Well this Halloween it was literally a dark and stormy night. In fact, it was so dark and stormy that some towns even ended up postponing trick-or-treating until Friday Nov. 1. However, the tri-town area was open for business from 5-7 p.m.

“[I liked trick-or-treating on Thursday] because it was real. It was the true American Halloween,” Danielle Kanosky (12) said.

The streets were not littered with children and parents as they usually are every year. It could have been the weather, and it also could have been the fact that most high schoolers are, quite frankly, just getting too old to trick-or-treat.

“High schoolers are getting too old, because it’s kind of bad when you’re sprinting through a yard and you knock a kid over. This year will be my last year trick-or-treating,” Nicholas Brandner (11) said.

High schoolers are either extremely mature, in the process of maturing, or we’re still little kids at heart. Some high schoolers never want to let their childhood flame die out, so they continue dressing up and going out every year.

“It’s cool to see how people dress up like what they dress up as. It’s cool to see how people get so into Halloween. Some people really care about it and some people are just like ‘whatever,’” Kanosky said.
