Steel installed for future band practice room
November 7, 2013
As finishing touches on the academic wing are being made, construction workers are setting steel in place for the band practice room in the new school. The process will come to an end in the near future.
“We’ll finish erection of the band steel November 8, 2013, weather permitting. We have already started putting up the exterior and interior CMU (Concrete Masonry Unit) walls,” William Ledyard, Director of Construction and Facilities, said.
According to construction administrators, the material being set in place is trustworthy and durable.
“There really aren’t any disadvantages of a concrete block/steel frame building. They are some of the strongest, most durable and longest lasting building materials,” Ledyard said.
As far as the rest of the project, other finishing touches are currently being made.
“At this time now we are complete [in] finishing items in both the academic wing and pool wing. We’ll complete filling the pool this weekend. We’ll finish the perimeter vinyl fence the end of next week and start landscaping after that,” Ledyard said.
