The Lake Central Boys Soccer team added another win with a 1-0 victory over Highland on Monday night at Lake Central, bringing their record to 3-0.
“We came into the game with the wrong mind set, and it almost cost us the game,” Joseph Majchrowicz (11) said. “We have good players, but we just don’t play well as a team sometimes.”
Paul Junokas (11) was fouled hard in the Highland box during the 24th minute of play, resulting in a penalty kick for the Indians. Randy Maksimik (12) placed the ball to the lower right corner of the goal where it found the back of the net. It was enough to seal the win.
Jonothan “Jono” Gross (11) kept the crowd in the game leading chants of “We are” which the crowd of students and parents alike responded with “LC”. He also came up with an original chant, “We don’t need no leg cramps, we just win state champ.”
“Our goal as of right now is signing the DAC title, but our ultimate goal for the season is to defend the state title,” Adam Vanmilligan (11) said.
The JV tied Highland 2-2 in the earlier match. The Indians play next Saturday at home against South Bend St. Joseph at 3 p.m.
