On Sat., Nov. 23, the girls varsity basketball team was defeated by Penn.

“We had been preparing for Penn. They’re probably our biggest competitor. We didn’t win this time, but if we win Sectionals, we will see them at Regionals,” Rachel Bell (10) said.

Although the team lost the game, it was their first loss of the season.

“We need to work on not having as many turnovers as we did and improve our press breakers,” Bell said.

There are several members that play on both Varsity and JV teams.

“It’s really tough being on both teams. I have to work twice as hard to stay focused, and when I play in both games, I’m exhausted by the end of it all,” Emily Miklusak (10) said.

The girls’ season is still in the early stages, with games going through winter break.

“Our goals are to win as many games as we can and to play our best. It’s really fun playing with all the girls again this year, but we all know that we need to put in the hard work now so we see the results later,” Bell said.
